The garment district of New York City diminished a number of years ago but now one designer is creating a new epicentre of NYC fashion.

Bob Bland is the founder of Manufacture New York, an incubator with the goal of revitalizing the city’s apparent manufacturing industry. Alongside this, Bland also hopes to encourage a new generation of fashion designers.

The hub gives designers space to work as well as offering valuable mentorship and advice.

The dream is to give young designers inexpensive space to work as the only option at the moment is working from home or outsourcing manufacture to foreign countries. In the case of outsourcing the minimum order requirement is often so large that it’s infeasible even for well established designers.

Manufacture New York gives new designers the chance to get their brand, ethos and garments to more people with the help of mentors, state-of-the-art equipment and a collaborative working environment.
