Perhaps you didn’t want to spend hours of your time watching the 86th annual Academy Awards. Fair enough. So you can bond with other people over social media about it, here’s all the important stuff.

The Selfie

Without a doubt, this was the year of the selfie. Not only did Ellen DeGeneres instigate a selfie with some of the most amazing actors you could imagine, but it’s become one of the most shared photos on social media ever!

Jennifer Lawrence falls, again

Despite practising on stairs in this year’s dress in order to avoid tripping like she did last year, Jennifer stumbled over a cone as she got out of her car onto the red carpet. She tends to handle these things well and took it on the chin when host Ellen mentioned both falls during the awards.

Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t win, again

Poor Leo. (A phrase that’s currently trending on Twitter.)

Cumberbatch Photobomb

I love a good celeb photo bomb and this one from Benedict Cumberbatch and an unwitting U2 is just perfect. How long until that particular pose from the English actor is seen photoshopped all over the Internet in different settings?

Lupita Nyong’o’s dress

Now, we have to talk about fashion. Lupita’s beautiful pleated blue gown certainly turned heads. Before I’d even done my research on this dress I knew it had to be included but, as it turns out, everyone loved it as much as I did. She certainly stole the show when it comes to red carpet attire. When asked about the dress she said: “I wanted to wear blue because blue reminds me of Nairobi”.

Kelly Osbourne’s hair

The retro style, the purple. Everything about Kelly’s hair is wonderful. Not only that but she wore a spectacular Badgley Mischka dress and handled the rain on the red carpet like no other. Check out her Instagram for loads of photos from the awards.

Who won what?

Jared Leto picked up best supporting actor; Frozen won best animation; Gravity picked up all sorts of awards including best director; and 12 Years a Slave walked away with best picture.
